Boards & Commissions

It has been shown that public visibility is the most effective method the GLBT community has for changing public attitudes toward its members. When members serve as openly gay or lesbian members of boards or commissions or in volunteer programs they are in a position to favorably alter public perceptions of the community as well as advocate for GLBT-friendly policies.

Toward this end, the Stonewall Democratic Club encourages members to participate in local government through appointive Boards and Commissions and volunteer programs. Members seeking appointive office have the full support of Stonewall Democratic Club resources including lobbying officials, endorsements and providing letters of reference.
